Paint Your Own Pottery at A Maze in Pottery
Painting pottery at A Maze in Pottery in Briarcliff Manor, Westchester County, NY, is fun and easy — and absolutely no artistic experience is necessary!
Choose your pottery, pick your colors, get creative, and leave the glazing and firing to us. Walk-ins are welcome, and we recommend reserving a table in advance, especially on weekends and during busy hours.

CHOOSE YOUR POTTERY PIECE
1. Choose Your Pottery
Start by choosing from our huge selection of 500+ pottery pieces. Our studio carries mugs, bowls, plates, platters, vases, boxes, picture frames, animal figurines, and much more. Pottery prices start at approximately $6, with many popular pieces in the $15–$25 range.

Choose from 80+ non-toxic, lead-free and food-safe pottery paints, along with specialty and crystal glazes.
Our friendly studio assistants will explain the painting process and show you where to find brushes, stencils, sponges, stamps and other tools to help bring your ideas to life.

3. Have Fun Painting
Now it’s time to create! There is no hourly charge, so relax and enjoy the experience. If you don’t finish your pottery during your visit, no problem. We’ll carefully wrap your piece so you can take it home and return to finish painting another day. A $4.50 return studio fee applies.
PICK UP YOUR KILN-FIRED CREATION
4. We Glaze & Fire Your Pottery
When you’re finished painting, leave your creation with us. We’ll apply a clear glaze and fire your pottery in one of our kilns. Your finished piece will have a shiny, durable surface and will be food-safe, microwave-safe, and dishwasher-safe. Finished pottery is generally ready for pickup one week after the day you painted.
What Happens After You Paint?
Glazing
After your pottery is completely dry, we dip it in a clear glaze.
During firing, the glaze melts onto the pottery, creating the smooth, bright, and glossy finish you see on the finished piece.
Firing
After glazing and drying, pottery is carefully loaded into one of our kilns.
Our kilns reach temperatures of approximately 1,830°F. The firing process takes more than 8 hours, followed by approximately 16 hours of cooling.
Once everything has cooled, our staff carefully unloads the kiln and sorts the finished pottery for pickup.
Pottery Painting Prices
The cost of your visit is:
$9 studio fee per painter + the price of your pottery
The studio fee includes:
-Guidance from our studio staff
-Pottery paints and specialty glazes
-Brushes, stamps, stencils, and sponges
-Use of studio painting supplies and tools
-Clear glazing
-Kiln firing
Pottery pieces currently range from approximately $5–$80.
Sales tax is additional.

Do I need a reservation?
Walk-ins are always welcome, and we’ll do our best to accommodate you. However, we recommend reserving a table in advance, especially on weekends and during busy hours.

Is there a deposit for larger table reservations?
A $90 deposit is required when reserving a table for 8 or more people.
How long does it take for my pottery to be ready?
Finished pottery is generally ready for pickup one week after the day you painted.
How long will you hold my finished pottery?
Because we have limited storage space, we can hold finished pottery for up to 3 months. Please remember to pick up your creations!
Are the pottery paints safe for children?
Yes. Our pottery paints are non-toxic, lead-free, and food-safe. After your pottery is glazed and fired, the finished piece is microwave-safe and dishwasher-safe.
How much does pottery painting cost?
There is a $9 studio fee per painter, plus the price of the pottery piece you choose. Pottery prices currently range from approximately $4–$80.
The studio fee includes your painting supplies, use of studio tools, assistance from our staff, glazing, and firing.
Can I finish my pottery another day?
Yes. If you need more time, we’ll wrap your unfinished pottery so you can take it home. Bring it back when you’re ready to finish painting. A $4.50 return studio fee applies.
Can I bring a group?
Absolutely! A Maze in Pottery welcomes families, friends, birthday groups, Scout troops, and other groups. We recommend making a reservation in advance for larger groups.
