Scout Parties

A guided pottery project for your troop, and a look inside our kiln room.

Bring your troop to the studio for about an hour and a half of painting. Every scout finishes a pottery project with help from our staff, and learns how a piece goes from unfinished ceramic to finished art: glazing, firing and how a kiln works, with a visit to our kiln room.

A Maze in Pottery is a locally owned small business founded by an immigrant woman. We're happy to talk with scouts about entrepreneurship, running a creative business and giving back. Planning a custom or community project with your troop? Ask us.

Questions

How many scouts do we need?

Tuesday to Friday, a troop of 6 or 7 is fine. On Saturdays and Sundays we charge for at least 8 scouts.

Can scouts earn a badge?

Yes. Add a Ceramics Fun Badge for each painter when you book. It's $3.50 per scout.

Is the party area private?

Your party area is reserved for your group. The front of the studio stays open to other customers unless you rent the whole studio, which has an extra fee.

How far ahead should we book?

At least two weeks ahead. A $90 deposit holds your date.

How many guests can we have?

Most packages start at 8 guests, and you can have up to 40. You can change your guest count before the party.

When is the pottery ready?

One week after the party, after 3 PM. The host can pick up everything and hand it out, or guests can pick up their own pieces. We can’t hold pottery for more than two months.

Can we bring food and drinks?

Bring your own food, cake and drinks (not included in the price). Food that doesn’t need a fridge or heating works best. Our party assistants help set up, serve and clean up. Adults 21+ may bring their own drinks where allowed; the studio doesn’t sell, serve or provide alcohol.

What if we need to cancel?

14 or more days before: eligible for a refund.
7 to 14 days before: reschedule or take studio credit (no refund).
Less than 7 days before: the deposit is forfeited.
If we cancel because of severe weather, we’ll work with you to reschedule.

Is gratuity included?

No. If you were happy with your party assistants, we suggest at least 15%, in cash.
